A beautiful stopover in the heart of the Aubrac.
- We will cross the Routes de Saint-Jacques to Conques.
Throughout the Middle Ages, Conques was an important sanctuary where the relics of the skull of Saint Foy were venerated. It is famous for its abbey church, whose architecture and sculptures on the porch are remarkable, and its treasure, notably the golden statue of Saint Foy. Since the 20th century, it has been declared a "major stopover" on the road to Santiago de Compostela (Via Podiensis) because it is mentioned in the last book of the Codex Calixtinus, which was practically unknown until its Latin edition in 1882. It is also a village classified by the association Les plus beaux villages de France.
- Aubrac is a French volcanic and granite plateau situated in the south-central part of the Massif Central
and on the borders of the three departments of Aveyron, Cantal and Lozère. We will taste the great speciality "L'ALIGOT".
- The sublime Gorges of the Tarn will be a new stage of pleasure for the eyes and the driving.
- The evening stage will take place at the approach of the Cevennes in an astonishing
Château in Meyrueis.
- THURSDAY 14 MAY: MEYRUELS - CIRQUE DE NAVACELLE - AIGUES-MORTES
The great Cévennes stage.
- The wild roads that have made the history of Motorsport. The impressive Cirque de Navacelles and so many other
breathtaking places. It is formed by a meander cut by the river Vis in impressive gorges between the Causse du Larzac in the south (Saint-Maurice-Navacelles, Hérault) and the Causse de Blandas in the north (Blandas, Gard). The hamlet of Navacelles, shared between the two communes and the two departments, is located near the crossing point of the meander marked by a waterfall.
- We will finish this Road Trip in the Camargue in the City of AIGUES MORTES.
Founded in the 13th century by Saint Louis with the aim of developing trade with Italy and the East, Aigues-Mortes, the first Mediterranean port of the Kingdom of France, today reveals a particularly well-preserved architectural ensemble. Situated in the heart of the Camargue Gardoise, the town of Aigues-Mortes looks like a medieval fortress, with its 1634 metres of ramparts, its fortified gates, its twenty towers and its covered way. Highest tower of Aigues-Mortes the tower of Constance, a former prison, of a height of 30 meters, offers from the top of its terrace a beautiful sight on the vast expanses of the Camargue.
- A lunch, prize-giving ceremony will end this beautiful journey along the SALT ROUTE.
